Lost premiered Fall 2004 on the network ABC. It has since rocketed to record levels for the network and has been sweeping up the competition on Wednesday nights at 8PM. The show has been coined as highly addictive, well-written and well-acted. Jin (played by "Angel"'s Daniel Dae Kim) is one half of the Korean couple aboard the plane when it crashed. Although Sun's half of their history has been revealed, much is still not known about Jin apart from Sun's flashbacks and his interaction on the island. From what can be gathered is that he once worked as a waiter, who fancied Sun, the daughter of a rich Korean family, who fell in love with Jin -- whom was a reprise from the rich people around her. Jin asked Sun's father for permission (a common traditional custom) for his daughter's hand in marriage. Apparently, from what we learn, Jin was only able to marry Sun upon him working for Sun's father. Jin began lavishing Sun with expensive and extravagant gifts -- believing that Sun was happier being rich than simply being in love. Jin distances himself from Sun, becoming wrapped up in his work -- Jin even murders someone for Sun's father. Jin and Sun eventually find themselves aboard the Oceanic flight and stranded with the other survivors of the plane crash. Since then, Jin and Sun have been keeping to themselves. Jin strongly believing that they need only each other. He is often controlling of Sun in matters of decency and her "rightful place". Many other times he is a very caring husband watching out for Sun.
